Desciframe, DivideX2, Toma tu parte y Huye
2019
collaboration with choreographer Juana del Mar Jimenez Infante
Desciframe, DivideX2, Toma tu parte y Huye (Decipher me, DivideX2, Take your part and Run away) arises from a laboratory between artists from different disciplines that are inspired by the technique of collage. The piece is divided into four acts and is part of a process of investigation - creation that nourishes the encounter with the non-encounter. The meeting takes place between three women from different nationalities across spaces of the everyday, the intimate and the creative. It is an inquiry into our identity to discover the multiple identities that we each inhabit. Unveiling who we are and transforming both the meeting and the absence with the other, giving us a space to consider the impossible limitations of the body and thus providing us with other ways of being.
The piece has a structure of 4 acts and I was part of the creation and performance of Act 3 & 4.
The third act, Toma Tu Parte, Take your part, addresses the absence with the other, the grief or the ghost who was present in the encounter as prosthesis and now is a vital part. Where do we locate the grief in the body? What is it adopted in the encounter and what do I keep, or what stays with me?
The final act, Huye, Run away, takes place in a conversation in a foreign language. Our mother tongue, which is part of a specific context with which we have learned to see the world, becomes blurred before we are lost in translation within the conversation. Run away, is the memory of the encounter, the remains are composed in a large collage before the memory of the everyday and are expressed through an image and sound installation.
This piece won the grant in creation from the Ministry of Culture Colombia in 2019 and the support from the Goethe Institute, The festival “Dance In The City” from IDARTES and the Faculty of Arts from ASAB- University Francisco Jose De Caldas in Bogota.
